What is one of the greatest opportunities that FFA provides to students? It provides the ability to meet people from all different backgrounds that you can make a connection with and spark a lifelong relationship. Maybe these meetings happen in your school, or maybe at FFA Leadership Camp. Maybe it happens at State FFA Convention, or at National FFA Convention. No matter where you are, or what event you are attending, you get to meet some pretty amazing people along the way.
1. Some of the most important people in your adult life will be the contacts and friends you made when you were an FFA member. 2. Remember the times your adviser yelled at you during CDE practice or threw a gummy bear at you while you were practicing for a speech contest? They only did it because they saw your full potential. 3. Wear official dress with pride. You are a part of something that is so much bigger than you can wrap your head around. Look your best. Act your best.
I start thinking about FFA and I go back to the start. You see I did not take an agriculture education class as a freshmen. My interests were academic; Math, Physics, History. Somewhat indicative of my chosen career of engineering. While I had been involved with 4-H, and had seen FFA members in action at the local county fair I was not convinced those odd corduroy jackets were for me. One of my friends was in FFA and their Advisor was out at their project providing some help.
Created in 1958, the Wyoming FFA Foundation was formed by FFA supporters with a mutual goal of maximizing opportunities for the state’s members.
