Learn by Doing

Learning by Doing: Experience is often quoted as life’s best learning opportunity. By enhancing the curriculum, the opportunities and the tools available in Wyoming’s agricultural education classrooms, the Wyoming FFA Foundation plans to expand the learning opportunities available to Wyoming students. Following a 2008 grant allocation by Encana Oil & Gas, the state’s FFA chapters were able to add outstanding learning opportunities to their classrooms.

In 2012 we've teamed up with a group of donors led by Encana Oil & Gas to invest over $15,000 in learning opportunities for Wyoming students. We believe agricultural education students should have maximum opportunity to grow and succeed, leaving high school as prepared as is possible for the world ahead.

Just recently the Wyoming FFA Foundation supported projects at several schools using the Learning by Doing dollars. Improved welding equipment, powder coaters, a school barn, repairs to a school barn, new hand grinders and an adopt-a-sow swine hut. Let the learning begin! This project benefits today's students and tomorrow's students...it's an investment in learning and opportunities for Wyoming young people. Thanks Encana Oil and Gas for leading the way.

The next round of Learning by Doing funds will be issued Fall 2012. If your a chapter who would like to apply or an FFA supporter who would like to help, contact Jennifer Womack at 307.351.0730 or drop her a line at womack@wyoming.com.

Powder coating equipment has been added to multiple classrooms to ensure students can apply the finishing touches to high-quality projects.

Hand grinders recently added to the Newcastle classroom ensure students have the tools they need to master skills with benefits that reach far beyond high school.

Replacing outdated shop equipment, like welding helmets, is a priority. It's among the FFA Foundation's goals to ensure every FFA member has access to high-quality, modern equipment that's in good repair.

This miter saw replaced a 1971 model saw that was still being used in the shop. It was high-time for an upgrade!
