Community Service/Green Living Chapter Grant Program
Purpose
The purpose of this program is to assist chapters with current and new community service projects and to develop environmental sustainability curriculum in Agriculture Education Classrooms.
What funds are available?
The Wal-Mart Foundation, in partnership with the Wyoming FFA Foundation has offered $20,000 to FFA chapters for community service projects and environmental sustainability curriculum.
Who can receive these funds?
Any Wyoming agricultural education program/FFA chapter that submits an application and meets grant guidelines listed.
How to apply for the grant and grant issuance?
Funds can be applied for through the Foundation. The grant application is due March 2, 2009 (applications must be postmarked or e-mailed by this date). A list of award winners will be posted on our website by March 23, 2009 and award letters will be sent at that time.
How much money can each chapter receive?
•Chapters applying for single source funds will have a limit of $3,000 per chapter.
•For chapters that are working to match funds, the grant will match up to $4,000 per chapter from any single source or program.
Grant Rules, Guidelines and Stipulations –
•Funds are to be used for community service activities including any costs associated with such activities. Funds can also be used for educational programs/equipment offering benefit to all students and members and must promote environmental sustainability. Examples may include but are not limited to: new curriculum materials, equipment for your lab or shop, career development materials.
•Grant funds must be used for current and/or anticipated projects occurring during the grant period (March 2009 through September 2009).
•Funds must be used by September 15, 2009.
•Grant funds shall not be used for personal use.
•If requesting matching funds, please provide documentation of intent with this application from the other source that is matching the foundation grant funds.
•Grant awardees will be asked to submit a report on their projects/items purchased. The report must include pictures (digital format preferred). See reporting section below.
Reporting -
Chapters receiving grant funds are required to submit a report following the conclusion of the project.
This report is due to the Foundation by September 15, 2009, but ideally would be sent to the Foundation once your monies are spent. This report will detail the success of the project including the scope of community involvement, benefit to the chapter, benefit to the community, and ideas for project improvement should the project be repeated. The report will also include pictures of the projects or activities funded by the grant program.
Disclosure -
The Wyoming FFA Foundation Board will serve as the committee to process the applications and distribute the funding. There is no guarantee every application will be granted. Applications that are denied may have the opportunity to re-submit in a time frame designated by the board. If money remains after the initial round of applications, applications can be submitted again for additional funds.
